Newcastle Place Health Center Earns Highest Quality Rating from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for Fourth Consecutive Year

Feb. 5, 2013

Five-star rating acknowledges quality of care and services in community’s skilled nursing residences

Mequon, Wis., February 4, 2013 – The Highlands Health Center at Newcastle Place in Mequon received a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, earning the distinction for the fourth consecutive year. The rating is the highest awarded, and it was established by evaluating health inspections, staffing and quality measures in the community’s skilled nursing residences. Managed by Life Care Services™, an LCS™ company, Newcastle Place also offers seniors 62+ independent living options in a flexible continuing care environment.

“We’re very proud of our continued success with our fourth straight five-star rating and view it as a significant stamp of approval on the service we provide at Newcastle Place,” said Julie Bissonnette, executive director for the community. “For seniors and their families considering the move to a community like ours, this is an excellent tool to help research and compare communities. Both current and potential residents can take comfort in knowing that The Highlands Health Center at Newcastle Place has been repeatedly reviewed and consistently produced results deserving of the highest available distinction.”

The ratings are determined through a series of on-site inspections, reviews of any resident complaints or incident reports, evaluation of staffing hours and data collected from both short- and long-stay residents. The Highlands Health Center at Newcastle Place exceeded industry averages in nearly every category, particularly in staffing where the “total number of licensed nurse staff hours per resident per day” was nearly twice that of the national and Wisconsin average.

“This rating is the result of a continuous focus we place on serving residents,” said Georgia Dzwinel, administrator of health services at Newcastle Place. “Our focus on staff retention and development helps us to maintain consistency in our assignments and performance. It’s a great benefit for our residents and our families to know and trust the staff members they see day in and day out.”
