Nicolet student attacked in woods by boy dressed as ninja

River Hills - A 14-year-old Bayside boy is recovering from injuries after police say he was assaulted by a boy dressed as a ninja in a wooded area behind Nicolet High School. The victim was treated at St. Mary's Ozaukee for a cut to his forehead and released.

Police Chief Tom Rischmann said authorities are reviewing the incident to see if juvenile charges should be filed against a 16-year-old River Hills boy who is a suspect in the attack.

According to the chief:

After the end of the school day, at 2:45 p.m. Monday, a group of four or five students from the high school went into the Nicolet Woods, behind the high school at 6701 N. Jean Nicolet Road. The high school owns a large wooded area that abuts wooded tracts in River Hills.

The students told police they were looking for a ninja after hearing that two girls walking through the wooded area the prior afternoon were confronted by a boy dressed as a ninja.

The victim split away from the group and was then confronted by the suspect, hit in the head with a 2-foot-long black metal machete and dragged down a hill. The suspect allegedly said he was "protecting the land." The assault took place on private property.

The Bayside boy, bleeding heavily from the head wound, made his way back to the high school. Police were called at 3:24 p.m. He was taken to the hospital, where his wounds require 20 stitches.

Nicolet District Administrator Rick Monroe said the suspect is not a student at the school. The incident was not school-related, he said.

"The police are confident this is an isolated incident and there is no one else doing this," he said. "We did send a message to parents saying a student was assaulted and there is a suspect."

The school posted no-trespassing signs at the edge of school property last fall after receiving complaints from neighbors about students using the area as a shortcut.

Monroe said he went to the woods after school ended on Wednesday to see if students continued to use the shortcut. He didn't see anyone.

  1. First things first: I'm glad to hear that the kid is ok. Now, having said that, this was by far the most entertaining news story to come along in awhile. I hope that the kid can look back on this 10 years from now and sit around the campfire and tell the story of how he got ambushed by a ninja in the woods outside of school.

    Best wishes on your recovery.

  3. Aedilis, it is disgusting to see you find this story to be entertaining. That boy could have bled to death before someone found him, or the attacker could have decided he didn't do enough damage and inflicted more cuts. If this were you or your child, I don't think you would see it as entertaining. And this boy will have to live with that huge scar in the middle of his forehead the rest of his life. You are pathetic!!
  4. OMG, that is AWESOME!!!! Aedilis you are totally right, (since the kid is ok) definitely a story for the grandkids, heck even the college roomies.

And {wisdottie} as for him bleeding to death...head/scalp wounds appear to bleed profusely but are not usually the cause of someone bleeding to death. So YES given the fact that the boy is okay....it's a VERY entertaining story.

If you want to be horrified at something...why did the kids enter the woods LOOKING for a ninja instead of calling the police to investigate? Be careful where you aim that righteous indignation....someone might get hurt ;)
  5. Maybe (just maybe) the ninja was fighting to defend our freedom from those who wish to harm us. Maybe (just maybe) he is a SUPER HERO. I name you KICK-ASS!

Oh that's taken? How about Ninja Boy!
  6. Bleeding to death from a cut on the head? Riiiiiight. Especially given that he
was able to walk back to school (he wasn't in bad enough shape to need
"someone to find him"), then go to the hospital, be treated, and immediately
    released.

Would I be peeved if it were my child who got ninja-sworded by some crazy
kid in the woods? Sure. Would I laugh about it with him afterwards? Heck
    yes!

To add to petrol's comment - the "horrifying" thing is that the police
apparently have done nothing to find this ninja, at least as far as the article
has mentioned (besides check to see if any students are using the shortcut).
Maybe our tax dollars should get a bit more action...
  7. Yes - he had a nice gaping wound to the head, and it took 20 stitches to get it back together. He could walk, talk, etc. Instead of calling police or going to the office at school, he called his mom. It was so wierd a situation, he didn't even know how to describe it! Finally some other students got him to go to the office, and the police were called.

Glendale police responded quickly and worked with River Hills police to find the suspect. The suspect has been identified.

Both police departments and the school administration took this very seriously and the victim's family really appreciates it!

I do agree that the boys should have talked to the school about the earlier niinja sighting instead of going back in the woods looking.

As for the fact that it was amusing - I found myself laughing over this many times over the last few days. We were scared, it could have been worse, but he is okay, and the ninja was caught.
  8. Truly bizarre. What I can't believe nobody has said is this: What kind of ninja is so easily found by police??? Obviously not a very good one! Also, a machete is a very un-ninja-like weapon -- too big and bulky.
My guess is this disturbed kid lives in the area, and was just waiting for something like "trespassing" (since we don't know if they were on his family's property) students to set him off. Scary thought just occurred to me. I sure hope this disturbed ninja didn't and doesn't see that Spike show, Deadliest Warriors. I think they pitted a ninja against a Spartan...
  9. To the victim's mother. I'm glad to see he's ok and they got the suspect. Crazy people, while humorous at times, can do damage if left unchecked. Good to see you both have a good spirit about it. It helps when you don't take certain things too seriously in life.

Wisdottie: Apparently not only I am pathetic, but the mother of the victim is pathetic, as well as everyone else thus far that has commented. It may seem that you might be the one that has the issues. It seems as if we can take a minor incident and cope with it by looking at the bright side of it.

I have two children, 5 and 13. I would have had the same reaction that everyone else but you did. "Oh my are you ok?! You are? Ok, wow was that surreal!"

I can't help but picture a kid accidentally bumping heads with another kid and they crash to the ground. Kids are checked on and the parents start giggling. Then from the bushes comes wisdottie yelling, "YOU ARE PATHETIC HOW DARE YOU MAKE LIGHT OF SUCH A SERIOUS INJURY! THEY COULD HAVE BRAIN CANCER!"
  10. @wisdotti

I think 'somebody' is jealous! I can't blame her though. In the words of the immortal Robert...

"Ninjas are sooooooooooo sweet that I want to crap my pants. I can't believe it sometimes, but I feel it inside my heart. These guys are totally awesome and that's a fact. Ninjas are fast, smooth, cool, strong, powerful, and sweet. I can't wait to start yoga next year. I love ninjas with all of my body (including my pee pee)." - Robert, RUP
  11. LVE4GOD "disturbed ninja" What a great name for a rock band! Clearly this kid has a refund coming from his Ninjitsu instructor.
  12. Facts:

    1. Ninjas are mammals.
    2. Ninjas fight ALL the time.
    3. The purpose of the ninja is to flip out and kill people.
  13. I heard that the ninja was hired by the school to keep those darn trespassers
off their property after school hours. (Of course they needed deniability) He's
so hardcore... I'll bet he won't talk. Serve those kids right for trespassing! Stay
    strong dwight!
  14. I hope he doesn't commit sepuku
  15. Has anyone thought about this? First off, these kids may have entered the woods off of Nicolet, but they left that property fairly quickly. When that
happened, they were then TRESPASSING on someones property. As for the signs that were put up, last I heard they were ripped down the next day. These high school kids expressly went looking for the "ninja." What had they planned on doing if/when they found him? I've seen this group of kids walking around back there almost on a daily basis since school started last fall. Were they angry because they never saw the "ninja" to begin with? And for what it's worth, that is no "short-cut" for these kids to get home.
  16. I know this is terrible, but I could not help but laugh a bit when I read this story. I am glad to see the young lad is fine. Stay with the group buddy, don't wonder off on your own!
  17. Let's set the record straight.....the un-ninja-like weapon of a machete is actually very ninja-like. At the ripe ol' age of 16 you can't just pick up a samurai and start wielding it, you have to earn your ninja weaponry. Anybody that knows the ninja certification process understands that as a lad, your first weapon is homemade. I myself preferred the bow staff over the machete or the katana for nothing other than ease of assembly, I always took the easy route. So let's give credit where credit is due, kudos to this kid for working on the machete. That move right there jumped him up to a level 8 ninja apprentice. My man had some free time on his hands and used it to practice his skill sets.

As far as him getting caught, I can explain that as well. You don't receive your smoke bombs until you are a level 12 ninja. Clearly this is well within his grasp. Give him some time and you'll never be able to catch this kid.

What is concerning to me is the "dragging" mentioned in the article. Have any of you ever seen a ninja drag anything? Nope, me either, they high kick enemies in the chest and get them to land where they want them. This is learned early in the ninja apprenticeship. I'm not mad about the dragging....just disappointed.
  18. Now you know what is wrong with video games. This story ranks up there with the 41 year old woman from Stevens Point that was driving around in her mini van shooting people with a blow dart gun.
  19. DaddyNinja

    What level are you??

    Will you be my master??
  20. I think there is an important lesson here that we should all heed.
When out looking for a ninja, don't leave the group.
