Plenty of posts up for election

Candidates can start filing papers

It's time to consider elected service. Nomination papers for village boards, municipal justices and common councils in North Shore communities are now available for circulation at the respective village and city halls. Declarations of candidacy and campaign financial statement forms are available at all area school districts for those considering a run for a school board.

All paperwork, for municipal judges and either boards or councils, is due at either school district administrative offices or at village or city halls by 5 p.m. Jan. 5.

The spring election is April 6. If a primary election is necessary, it will be held Feb. 16.

Bayside

Village: Two trustee positions, now held by Eido Walny and Michael Barth, will be filled. Both men have announced they will seek re-election. The municipal judge position, now held by Charles Barr, will also be filled. All terms are for three years. Trustees earn $1,200 per year, the judge, $3,600 per year. Village Hall is at 9075 N. Regent Road.

Brown Deer

Village: Village president, now held by Carl Krueger; two trustee positions now held by Gary Springman and Jeff Baker and municipal judge now held by David Victor will be up for election. All terms are three years; salaries for the positions are village president, $5,400; judge, $8,004, village trustee, $3,600. Village Hall is at 4800 W. Green Brook Drive.

School Board: Two seats on the School Board now held by Dennis Murphy and Gary Williams are up for election. Murphy has announced he will not seek re-election. The term of office is three years with a salary of $3,100 per year. The School District's office is at 8200 N. 60th St.

Fox Point

Village: two three-year trustee positions, now held by Sandy Garmer and Eric Fonstad and one two-year term, now held by F. R. Dengel III, are up for election on the board. Trustees are not paid. Village Hall is located at 7200 N. Santa Monica Blvd.

Glendale

City: Council seats for the 2nd, 4th and 6th districts are up for election. They are now held by Brian Rice, Richard Wiese and JoAnn Shaw. Aldermen serve two-year terms and earn $2,500 per year. The position of municipal judge, now held by Christopher Lipscomb, will also be on the ballot. The judge serves a three-year term and earns $14,100 per year. City Hall is at 5909 N. Milwaukee River Parkway.

Mequon

City: Mayor Christine Nuernberg has announced she will not be a candidate for the office, which pays $9,888 a year. Resident Curt Gielow has announced he will run for mayor, which is a three-year term.

Council seats in the 1st and 4th aldermanic districts, now held by Dan Abendroth and John Wirth, respectively, will also be on the ballot. Aldermen serve three-year terms and earn $4,800 a year. City Hall is at 11333 N. Cedarburg Road.

Mequon-Thiensville School District: two seats, now held by Robert Perry and Mary Cyrier, are up for election. Members serve three-year terms and are not paid. School district offices are at 5000 W. Mequon Road.

River Hills

Village: two trustee positions, now held by David Fritz and Steve Anderson, are on the ballot. Trustees serve three-year terms and are not paid. Village Hall is at 7650 N. Pheasant Lane.

Shorewood

Village: On the ballot are two trustee seats now held by Sean Cummings and Ellen Eckman. The terms are for three years and pay $1,000 annually. Village Hall is at 3930 N. Murray Ave.

School Board: Two seats, now held by Nancy Bornstein and John Carlton, will be on the ballot. Bornstein has announced she will not be a candidate. Terms are for three years, with a yearly salary of $1,000. District offices are at 1701 E. Capitol Drive.

Thiensville

Village: Two trustee seats, now held by Van Mobley and John Treffert, are on the ballot. Trustees serve three- year terms and earn $1,800 a year. Village Hall is at 250 Elm St.

Whitefish Bay

Village: Two trustee seats, now held by James Roemer and Jay Miller, are up for election. Terms are three years and trustees earn $600 a year. Village Hall is at 5300 N. Marlborough Drive.

School Board: Two positions on the board, now held by Pam Woodard and Cheryl Maranto, will be on the ballot. Members serve three year terms and earn $1,200 a year. District offices are at 1200 E. Fairmount Ave.

Nicolet Area school districts

Fox Point-Bayside: Two seats, now held by Michael Weiss and Barbara Mannion, are up for election. Members serve a three-year term and are not paid. District offices are at 7300 N. Lombardy Road, Fox Point.

Glendale-River Hills: Two seats, now held by Jean Pereles-Strouse and Bob Roska, who is board president, are up for election. They serve three year terms with the president elected by the board and paid $600 a year. Members are paid $540 per year. District offices are at 2600 W. Mill Road, Glendale.

Maple Dale-Indian Hill: One seat, held by Joe Kasle, is on the ballot. Members serve three-year terms and are not paid. District offices are at 8377 N. Port Washington Road, Fox Point.

Nicolet: One seat, now held by Mark Majeski, is up for election. Members serve three-year terms and earn $1,000 a year. District offices are at 6700 N. Jean Nicolet Road, Glendale.
