Wisconsin law enforcement group seeks resident input
Glendale - The Glendale Police Department will undergo a three-day on-site assessment of its policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services Nov. 3-5. The Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group will conduct the evaluation to determine whether to continue the professional accreditation awarded the department in 2006.
As part of the assessment, residents and community leaders are invited to offer comments at a public information session at 5 p.m. Nov. 4, in the Glendale Municipal Courtroom, 5909 N. Milwaukee River Parkway. If you are unable to attend in person, you may telephone in comments between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to (414) 228-1740. A member of the assessment team will be available to take the comments. Telephone comments and public comments are both limited to 10 minutes per person.
Written comments about the department's ability to meet the standards for accreditation can be sent to Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group , 2720 Boles Circle, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, 54495.
Group seeks volunteers to help seniors with yard work
Shorewood - The second annual "Shorewood Connects" Yard Clean-Up Day will link neighborhood volunteers with older adults and disabled adults who need help winterizing their yards. Volunteers are being sought between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Nov. 7 to rake leaves, clean out garden beds, trim hedges and empty hoses at the homes of older and disabled adults for whom these tasks would prove difficult.
Shorewood Connects seeks to improve the ability of older adults to live in and contribute to the community. The Shorewood partnership, comprised of more than 40 members, is overseen by the Village's Elder Services Advisory Board. The first annual Shorewood Connects Yard Clean-Up Day attracted 80 volunteers; organizers are hoping for a similar response this year.
Older adults seeking more information about yard clean-up should contact Elizabeth Price of the Shorewood Senior Resource Center (414) 847-2727. Village residents interested in volunteering should contact Sue Kelley, Shorewood Connects Facilitator at (414) 961-7262.
