Walny wants to keep working for Bayside

March 20, 2013

Public Forum:

My name is Eido Walny. I am asking for your vote for re-election as a trustee for the village of Bayside. I've had the pleasure of serving on our board of trustees for five years now. With your help and with my fellow trustees, we've accomplished a lot together. I'm proud of my record during my tenure. On April 2, I would like your support so I can continue my work as a Bayside trustee.

It should come as no surprise that the hardest task as a trustee is managing our budget. The economy is poor, we have legislative obstacles to navigate, and yet our residents expect high quality services from the village. I am extremely proud that we have not increased the Bayside tax levy for three years running. At the same time, we have maintained and even improved our high quality public services. But challenges persist, and I believe that my experience is going to continue to be valuable in years ahead.

Yet without safety, fiscal responsibility would be meaningless. As the chair of the Bayside Public Safety Committee, I am dedicated to issues of resident safety. I have worked closely with Chief Resnik on a wide variety of issues that affect the Bayside Police Department and the public. Our emotionally intelligent signage program has been internationally recognized for its innovation. Bayside is also the home of the new consolidated dispatch service. Bayside is a great place to live because it's a safe place to live, and I want to continue to lead the way on public safety.

I worry about Bayside so that you don't have to. I want you to simply enjoy living here. I would be honored to get your vote so that I can continue to serve you as a Bayside trustee.
