1Two sterling silverware sets, one valued at more than $10,000, and gold and other valuable jewelry, value not listed, were taken from the 800 block of East Hermitage Road sometime after July 1 to Aug. 22.
2A 63-year-old Bayside man was arrested for drunken driving after being stopped for defective taillights in the 400 block of West Brown Deer Road at 12:10 a.m. Aug. 24. The man failed field sobriety tests but denied drinking. His blood alcohol content was 0.17.
3Jewelry valued at more than $6,000 was reported taken from the 8900 block of North Navajo at 9:40 a.m. Aug. 25. Some of the jewelry, identified by the victim, was pawned at Robert Haack Diamonds, 6969 N. Port Washington Road, between Aug. 11 to Aug. 23. A person known to the victim is under investigation.
4A resident reported a number of bras hanging from trees in the 8900 block of North Lake Drive at 6:50 a.m. Aug. 24. There was also a sign reading, "Hope you had an uplifting vacation."
5A 45-year-old Brown Deer man was arrested for manufacturing of a controlled substance, and a 17-year-old Brown Deer girl for party to this crime after an anonymous caller reported what looked like a marijuana plant on a second-floor balcony in the 9000 block of North Park Plaza Court at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 9. Police found marijuana plants growing in a pot, one 40-inches tall, on that balcony. When police asked about the plants, the man said various things including it was a "mosquito plant," that he was only growing it because it "looked neat," that he found the seeds in someone else's ashtray and then said, "It's not like I was going to sell it to anyone."
6Items valued at more than $650 including a 36-inch flat screen TV, two DVD players and a laptop computer were taken from the 4100 block of West Schroeder Drive sometime Aug. 9 to 12. The apartment had been left unlocked so a former roommate could remove items.
7A 20-year-old Grafton man was arrested for drunken driving after a two-car accident in the 4600 block of WestBradley Road at 10 p.m. Aug. 14. The man said it was just a "little fender bender." His blood alcohol content was 0.15.
8Two Milwaukee men, 22 and 31, were arrested for theft from Kohl's, 9060 N. Green Bay Road, at 4:25 p.m. Aug. 15. The men took five pairs of Levis jeans valued at about $190 and ran from the store. They drove off but police stopped them a few blocks away.
9A 17-year-old Brown Deer boy was arrested for theft of a $600 smartphone left unattended for just a few minutes at the Brown Deer football practice field, 8355 N. 55th St., at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 15. At least one witness saw the suspect take the phone, and he was located and interviewed at his home where he, at first, denied the theft. He then admitted taking the phone but said he threw it into a creek after he dropped it while riding his bicycle. The phone was recovered from that creek and the owner received a new phone because she had insurance.
10A 35-year-old Brown Deer man was arrested for disorderly conduct/domestic and bail jumping after threatening a woman in the 8200 block of North Teutonia Avenue at 11:35 p.m. Aug. 16. The man, on parole, had a no-drink order and had a preliminary BAC of 0.135.
Two domestic violence incidents were reported this week.
11A 65-year-old Fox Point woman was cited for hit and run after she sideswiped a car causing damage including knocking off the side view mirror in the 7100 block of North Fairchild Circle at 9 p.m. Aug. 18. Police found what turned out to be her side view mirror left at the scene. A few days later, a Fox Point police officer saw a car drive by missing a side view mirror in the 8500 block of North Port Washington Road about 7 p.m. Aug. 21. When interviewed, the woman said she knew she "hit something three days before" but was confused and got lost trying to return to the scene of the accident.
12The theft of three laptop computers valued at $1,650 was caught on surveillance video at Best Buy, 8775 N. Port Washington Road, at 12:45 p.m. Aug. 20. The video was first watched at 4 p.m. showing three women take the computers into a bathroom. They then left the store. The packaging was found in that bathroom and the computers gone.
13A front window was broken causing $800 damage in the 6900 block of North Yates Road sometime 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Aug. 22.
14A 28-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, with two prior convictions, driving after revocation and displaying unauthorized registration plates after an officer saw him driving erratically in the 7400 block of North Lake Drive at 2:40 a.m. Aug. 23. His BAC was 0.13 and he was taken for a blood draw.
15A catalytic converter with a replacement value of $1,100 was taken from a Jeep at Northshore Auto Spa, 6047 N. Flint Road, on Aug. 15 or 16.
16Three Milwaukee men, 24, 21, 20, were arrested for theft of items valued at more than $260 from Kohl's, 5650 N. Bayshore Drive, at 3:15 p.m. Aug. 17. They were seen putting items into bags and then attempting to leave the store. The 20-year-old, who was dressed like a woman, was also arrested for trespassing since he had been banned from the mall, twice, the last time for life.
17A woman, age and residence not available, was arrested for fraud on an innkeeper after refusing to leave two hours past checkout time at Baymont Inn, 5485 N. Port Washington Road, at 1:35 p.m. Aug. 18. When police went to her room, the woman, who was drunk, cried and refused to get out of bed. An almost empty bottle of whiskey was found there.
18Three TVs, value not yet available, were taken from the 5600 block of North Sievers Place on Aug. 17, 18 or 19. A bathroom window was broken to gain entry.
19A 21-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft and resisting arrest after placing 18 clothing items valued at $260 in a cart and leaving the store without paying at Kohl's, 5650 N. Bayshore Drive, at 11 a.m. Aug. 19. When confronted, she knocked a phone out of an employee's hand, abandoned the cart and then used her toddler son as a shield. After being arrested, she fought with officers and when placed in a squad car, banged her head and kicked her feet.
20A 2000 Jaguar was taken from Prestige Auto Service, 2035 W. Bender Road, at 2:40 p.m. Aug. 20. The car had been left for extensive repairs July 10 costing $5,392 and the shop was given a down payment of $2,000. On Aug. 16, the repairs were done and the owner arrived with another man to take a test drive. An employee rode along and after the drive, the men left. Early on Aug. 20, a man arrived saying he wanted to buy the car. That afternoon, after he reportedly contacted the owner, he returned, and while employees were busy, he used a key and fled with the car.
21Seven spools of copper wire weighing from 60- to 100-pounds each with a total value of $2,340 were taken from a company trailer at Acme Systems, 6101 N. Flint Road, overnight Aug. 20 or 21. There was sign of forced entry.
22Three apartments were broken into in the 6700 block of North Sidney Place early evening Aug. 21. A wallet, credit cards and about $70 cash was taken from one unit where entry was gained through a second-floor balcony. Nothing was taken from the other two.
23A 49-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, with six prior convictions, in the 7200 block of North Green Bay Avenue at 10:30 p.m. Aug. 22. The man had two lighted cigarettes, one in his mouth and one in his hand. When asked how much he had to drink, he said, "Enough" adding, "I (expletive) up." His blood alcohol content was 0.18 and he was taken for a blood draw.
24A bicycle, value not listed, was taken from a garage in the 2200 block of West Arbor Drive on Aug. 20, 21 or 22.
25Jewelry valued at more than $3,500 was reported taken from a resident at Laurel Oaks, 1700 W. Bender Road, on Aug 20 or Aug. 23. The resident reported that two other residents said they, too, were missing jewelry.
A 41-year-old Oak Lawn, Ill., man was arrested for theft of personal identification, a Class F Felony, after using another person's ID including his Social Security number to open charge accounts at four Bayshore Town Center stores including Shaw's Jewelry the afternoon of Aug. 23. He was given lines of credit at these stores ranging from $300 to $4,000. At Shaw's he received a line of credit for $2,200 and "purchased" a $1,349 watch and an $895 diamond necklace. He also had numerous shopping bags in his car with items from some of the stores. The man carried two wallets and two cellphones.
26A 41-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after refusing to move his illegally parked car in the 5800 block of North Port Washington Road at 4:44 p.m. Aug. 23. The man told police to "(Expletive) off" and they should "Get the (expletive) out of my way."
27A 27-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for disorderly conduct after shoving a security guard, using profane language in front of other customers and knocking over a display case at H&M, 5765 N. Bayshore Drive, at 5:45 p.m. Aug. 25. The woman became angry when she was asked for her ID because of the center's curfew and she looked younger than 18.
No reportable incidents this week.
28Graffiti was spray-painted on a Martinizing dry cleaner's truck causing $200 damage in the 3500 block of North Oakland Avenue on Aug. 16 or 17.
29A 21-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving after he was found passed out in his car in traffic in the 1700 block of East Capitol Drive at 3:15 a.m. Aug. 18. His BAC was 0.16.
30A 16-year-old Shorewood boy was arrested for disorderly conduct after discharging his Airsoft gun at Estabrook Park, 4000 N. Estabrook Parkway, at 5:15 p.m. Aug. 18. The fine is $177.
31A 37-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for trespassing after being reported on private property in the 3500 block of North Lake Drive at 8 p.m. Aug. 21. The man has been found at this residence before and told police it was where he lives.
32A 41-year-old Shorewood woman was arrested for drunken driving in the 1700 block of East Capitol Drive at 9:10 p.m. Aug. 23. Her BAC was 0.16.
One domestic violence incident was reported this week.
33A 73-year-old Whitefish Bay man was cited for illegal discharge of a firearm after a neighbor reported him shooting at birds and squirrels in the 100 block of West Day Avenue at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 20. Police found a dead bird in his back yard and the man admitted he has been shooting "unwanted birds and squirrels" that were eating his "expensive bird food" - the food he put out for birds "he desires." He also said he didn't know it was illegal and that he was careful to only shoot at the ground so as not to hit anything else. He had a .177-caliber pellet gun.
A resident reported her credit card had been used fraudulently charging $1,733 from July 19 to 27 and reported Aug. 21. She was first alerted to the fraud by an Oneida County Sheriff's deputy.
34A $200 digital media player and two wallets were reported taken from a car at Klode Park, 5900 N. Shore Drive, at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 24. A window was broken to gain entry.
35Two mountain bikes with a value of $120 each were taken from a garage in the 4800 block of North Anita Avenue from Aug. 21 to Aug. 25.
36An 18-year-old Whitefish Bay man called police to report that he and a friend were the victims of a strong-armed robbery, actual location not yet available, and were following the suspects near Wilson Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard at 12:42 a.m. Aug. 26. The victims were robbed by five teenage males who took their wallets, a $200 cellphone and about $70 cash. They reported the plate number which came back as a stolen car. Milwaukee police stopped that car and arrested the occupants. The investigation is on going.
NORTH SHORE FIRE DEPARTMENT
Firefighters responded to 135 calls, 105 emergency medical and 30 fire/rescue, Aug. 20 to 26.
37Fifteen bails of hay caught on fire on the grounds of Brown Deer Middle School, 5757 W. Dean Road, Brown Deer, at 10:11 a.m. Aug. 23. The fire started while a landscape spreader was being used on the hay. It was extinguished and no other damage was reported.
