Neavins-Maltese

Tara Marie Neavins and Michael Maltese were married Oct. 18, 2008, at Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Waterbury, Conn.

Parents of the bride are Thomas Neavins, Geneva, Ill., formerly of Shorewood, and Diane Romans Neavins, Menomonee Falls. Parents of the groom are Rita Maltese, Newington, Conn., and the late Michele Maltese.

The Rev. Ronald Ferraro officiated the 12:30 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at Mahan’s Lakeview, Wolcott, Conn.

The bride wore a white, V-neck gown with a ballgown skirt and an embroidered cathedral-length train. She carried a bouquet of roses, irises, calla lillies and orchids in purples, golds and oranges.

Matron of honor was Sharlynn Daun-Barnett, Amherst, N.Y., friend of the bride. Attendants to the bride were Shannon Whyte, Richardson, Texas; Michelle Braun, Milwaukee; Allison Young, Memphis, Tenn.; Joanna Maltese, New Britain, Conn.; and Seth Atkinson, Redmond, Wash.

Best man was Mikel Seidl, Connecticut, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Christopher Murphy, Connecticut; and Brent Neavins, Geneva, Ill.

Flower girl was Maeve Maltese, New Britain, niece of the groom. Ring bearer was Marcus Neavins, Geneva, Ill., brother of the bride.

The bride, who graduated from University School of Milwaukee, earned her doctorate in human services psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She is a clinical psychologist working with sex offenders in northern Minnesota. She enjoys traveling, volunteering and adventure sports.

The groom earned a dual degree in Italian and political science from Trinity College, Hartford, Conn. He is employed in the financial industry as a client reporting analyst in Hartford. He enjoys traveling, foreign languages and song-writing.

The couple became engaged at sunset on Aug. 15, 2007, on the beach in the city of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif. They met through eHarmony, a dating Web site.

The couple honeymooned for two weeks in Hawaii.
