Participants ages 6 to 12 see mammal furs and skulls, make an animal track to take home and meet a live animal. Participants also take a hike and receive hot chocolate. The program is the same for each date and time.

Participants conduct scientific experiments to learn why dark clouds appear over the winter lake, and why and how snow changes with time.

Participants learn about which birds stay for the winter, how they stay warm and what they eat.

Artist shares story, offers workshop
Whitefish Bay — The Fox Bay Cinema Grill, 334 E. Silver Spring Drive, hosts "An Evening With Lily Yeh" featuring a showing of her documentary titled "The Barefoot Artist" from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 12.
The evening begins with a "Mix and Mingle" with live music from 5 to 5:50 p.m., followed by dinner and the movie from 6 to 7:45 p.m. A discussion with Yeh from 7:50 to 8:30 p.m. ends the evening.

District seeks nominations of alumni, former teachers
Mequon — The Mequon-Thiensville School District is seeking nominations from the community of honorable candidates for induction into its Hall of Inspiration.
Nominees should be district alumni who have gone on to make a positive impact in their chosen profession or former staff members who made an impact on the education of children in the community.

Senior center plans trip to Milwaukee Jewish Museum
Shorewood — The Shorewood Senior Resource Center, 3920 N. Murray Ave., sponsors a trip to the Milwaukee Jewish Museum, followed by lunch at Lake Park Bistro, from 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 30.
A narrated tour provides the story of the customs and culture of the Milwaukee Jewish community. There also will be an Andy Warhol exhibit, "10 Portraits of Jews of the 20th Century."
Participants then enjoy either salmon or boeuf bourguignon at Lake Park Bistro. Meal selection must be noted on the registration form.
The cost of the trip is $39 for Shorewood residents and $42 for nonresidents. The fee covers the cost of school bus transportation, entrance to the museum and the tour, lunch and gratuities. Registration is due by Jan. 15.
