Explore the outdoors with activities at SANC

Bayside - The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, 1111 E. Brown Deer Road, has activities for all ages this fall.

Discovery Nature Hike: 1:30 to 3 p.m. Nov. 17; $5 for member adults, $7 for nonmember adults

Participants will walk along the meadows, woods, wetlands and lakeshore of the center. The entire program is taught on the trail. Participants need to be able to walk any of the loop trails at the center. There will be short but frequent stops.

Animal Movie Night: 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 18; $5 for child and $8 for adult members, $7 for child and $10 for adult nonmembers

S'mores will be available by the fire at 6 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., participants will meet snake, frogs and turtles. Then "Rio" will be shown.

Starry Nights of Winter: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 21; $5 for children and $7 for adult members, $7 for children and $9 for adult nonmembers.

Participants will stargaze from the trails and the top of the center's 60-foot tower. The program begins inside and includes a hike outside. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring a flashlight and binoculars. In case of cloudy skies, an all-indoor program on the solar system will be presented.

Preschool Bake Sale and Fundraiser: 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6 in classroom No. 4

The Schlitz Audubon Nature Preschool Holiday Bake Sale and Fundraiser includes retailers with items to purchase for holiday gifts.

Nicolet presents four student-direct one-act plays

Glendale - The Nicolet Theater Department presents four student-directed one-act plays at 7:30 p.m. Nov.18 and 19 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 20 at the school, 6701 N. Jean Nicolet Road.

The plays and directors are: "Hit the Books," Melissa Watton; "I Hate Mothers," Mikaela Zetley; "No Chewing," Loren Wright; and "Reese and Babe," Meg Allen.

Church to host art fair, silent auction

Mequon - The annual Lumen Christi Holiday Art Fair and Silent Auction will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 19 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 20 at the church, 2700 W. Mequon Road.

Local artists will feature their handiwork. Proceeds from an accompanying silent auction will benefit the Lumen Christi Teen Outreach Program.

Church to raise funds through exclusive dinner

Mequon - St. Boniface Episcopal Church, 3906 W. Mequon Road, will host stars of "The Fabulous Beekman Boys" Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge on Nov. 19 and 20.

Kilmer-Purcell and Ridge will cook and serve an exclusive dinner Nov. 19 at the church for 36 people. Reservations are required. Each guest will receive a signed and personalized copy of "The Beekman 1802 Heirloom Cookbook." A silent auction of Beekman 1802 products will be offered throughout the evening.

The cost is $100 per person. Proceeds benefit the church's outreach programs.

Bay Players holding auditions

Whitefish Bay - The Bay Players plan auditions for their winter production of "Wrong Window" by Billy VanZandt and Jane Milmore, directed by Raymond Bradford.

Bands perform first concert of the school year

Shorewood - The Shorewood Intermediate and High School bands present their first concert of the school year at 7 p.m. Nov. 22 in the Shorewood High School auditorium, 1701 E. Capitol Drive.

The Florentine Opera presents "Celebrating Puccini." Giacomo Puccini is known for creating some of the world's most popular operas. This performance of the Florentine Opera's Studio Artists Program features a quartet accompanied by a pianist. No registration is required, and this program is free and open to the public.

Fundraiser benefits Alzheimer's Association

Mequon - Sarah Chudnow Community, 10995 N. Market St., hosts its Do-Gooders Day of Deals fundraiser, to benefit the Alzheimer's Association of Southeast Wisconsin, from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 4.

The event features up to 30 exhibitors selling a wide variety of items. There will be a raffle, refreshments and live entertainment.

Bingo night supports Miracle on Canal Street

Milwaukee - The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center was selected as one of 30 charities to share in Potawatomi Bingo Casino's Miracle on Canal Street annual signature community program.

The center will use the Miracle on Canal Street proceeds to benefit the Shiluv special needs camping program at the Albert & Ann Deshur JCC Rainbow Day Camp in Fredonia, Wis.

Shorewood mezzo-soprano Donna Shriner will curate the concert. Performers include pianist Mary Ellen Burrescia of Mequon.
