Stuart Covi of Whitefish Bay earned his doctorate in medicine from the University of Illinois at Peoria on May 7. Covi was chosen to give the Class of 2011 convocation speech by his 43 classmates. He also received the Gold Humanism Honor Society Award, the Kerry Spooner-Dean M.D. Endowed Memorial Award, and the Alumnae Association Student Leadership Award. Covi served as co-president of the Student Government Association and as musical director of the college's Resonance A Cappella singing group. He begins his residency in pediatrics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in June.

Sara Charlton of Mequon earned her bachelor's degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., in May.

Erik Grimm of Mequon earned her bachelor's degree in sport management, cum laude, from Minnesota State University in Mankato in May.

Robert Konkel III of Mequon graduated magna cum laude from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in May with a major in history. He was also inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit honor society.

Whitefish Bay High School graduate Eric Martell (2007) and Homestead High School graduate Alex Wyler (2007) were part of the business team that won first place in the 2011 G. Steven Burrill Business Plan Competition at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Competing against 35 other teams, they became the first undergraduate team to win the prestigious competition since 2004. The business they started, Badgerbites.com, is a free online ordering service that allows users to order food from more than 60 restaurants in Madison. Prizes for first place include a cash prize of $10,000 and use of an office suite for a year.

Katie Hoylman, daughter of John and Elizabeth Hoylman, and Shannon Murray, daughter of James and Mary Beth Murray, all of Whitefish Bay, have been initiated into the Lawrence University chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest honor society in America.

Jennifer Winston of Bayside has been accepted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars at Indiana University in Bloomington.

Rebecca Dulle of Mequon, a junior studying elementary education at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., will perform with the Augustana Choir in Carnegie Hall on May 29. The 65-member choir received an invitation to perform at the hall this season after organizers heard and recognized its high quality performances.

Anna Fleischman of Glendale was awarded the Lindsey Plank Memorial Award Scholarship for chemistry students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Chemistry Awards Symposium.

Lindsay Peoples of Brown Deer, a junior communication and graphic design major at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, was awarded the Meinhard Endowed Service Scholarship for outstanding volunteer service at school and church.
