The basics: Your guide to getting around
It doesn't matter whether you just moved into Bayside or whether you're a lifetime resident, here's your guide to just about everything you need to know about living in the village.
How do I change the address on my driver's license?
You can do this over the phone, through the mail or in person at the nearest state Department of Motor Vehicle location. The nearest DMV office is located at 819 N. 6th St. - Room 190 in Milwaukee. If you'd rather do it via the mail or phone, you can get the details at the DMV's Web site.
How do I change my address with the Postal Service?
You can do this in person at the North Shore Post Office, 5651 N. Lydell Ave., or you can do it online at the Postal Service's Web site.
How do I register children for school?
To begin the enrollment process for young children in the Maple Dale-Indian Hills School District, the student's parent/guardian should go to the nearest school or call the district office at (414) 351-7170. To begin the enrollment process for older children in the Fox Point-Bayside School District, the student's parent/guardian should go to the nearest school or call the district office at (414) 247-4167. To register older children, call the Nicolet School District at (414) 351-7520.
When is the trash picked up?
Household waste (not yard or hazardous waste) will be picked up by Bayside Department of Public Works. All waste should be placed in containers no larger than 32 gallons and not weighing more than 60 pounds. The pick-up for your home will be weekly, on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Call the Village Hall (414-351-8811) to determine the day for your address. Pick-up will be made from outside and next to your garage. Collections begin at 7 a.m. Click here for trash routes. What are the village's parking rules?
There is no parking allowed on village streets at any time without first obtaining permission from the Bayside Police Department. Permission will be granted only if the driveway or parking lot is full or inaccessible. Permission can be obtained by calling (414) 351-8800 to request permission. Vehicles are otherwise routinely cited.
Where is Village Hall? What are the hours?
Village Hall is located at 9075 N. Regent Road. It's open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Who are my local elected officials? How can I reach them?
Bayside's village president is Samuel D. Dickman. The Village Board consists of six trustees. Click here for phone numbers for all elected officials.
Where is the local library? What are the library hours?
The North Shore Library is located at 6800 N. Port Washington Road in Glendale. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Call (414) 351-3461 for more information.
How do I register to vote? Where do I vote?
You can register at the Village Clerk's office at Village Hall, 9075 N. Regent Road. In addition, you may register at the polling place on the day of the election, provided you have proper identification. Call (414) 351-8811 for details on how to register. Where can I learn more about merchants and shopping in Bayside?
Bayside is located on the North Shore of Milwaukee County atop the bluffs of Lake Michigan. The village offers residents many choices in shopping along Brown Deer Road. Not too far away in Fox Point, at the intersection of Brown Deer Road and Port Washington Road, Audubon Court shopping center boasts many shops and restaurants. Among them are: Audubon Court Books, I See London, Mark Pasch Limited, Chaucer and Willoughby's Floral, Gaby's, Heinemann's Restaurant and Restaurant Hama.
