The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to build a community where people value animals and treat them with respect and kindness. For more than 128 years, WHS has been saving the lives of animals in need. We offer adoption services that place 9,000 animals in new homes annually, veterinary services that save thousands of lives, educational programs that instill respect for animals, behavior services to assist guardians and a myriad of other initiatives that help end suffering for animals. We depend entirely on private donations to fund our programs and rely on volunteers in nearly every department. If you are interested in adopting, volunteering, enrolling in a class, taking a tour or making a donation, check out our comprehensive web site at wihumane.org. The adoptable animals' web pages are updated every 30 minutes!
Be an “Angel for Animals” this holiday season
All major area animal shelters join forces to help animals
MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Humane Society is participating in a new local campaign, “MECA's Angels for Animals Holiday Tree Giving,” sponsored by the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals (MECA) and Animal Fairy Charities.
The public is encouraged to visit any of the Wisconsin Humane Society’s three locations (Milwaukee, Ozaukee or Racine) or any of the participating animal shelters from December 1 through December 31 to choose a special ornament from the Angels for Animals holiday tree. Ornaments can be purchased for $20.00 each, with all proceeds going to the individual shelter where that ornament was created.
“We are so grateful to MECA for inviting us to participate in this campaign,” said Angela Speed, director of communications at WHS. “Our amazing volunteers have created beautiful, handcrafted ornaments that will help support animals in need this holiday season.”
Participants include MECA, the Wisconsin Humane Society, the Humane Animal Welfare Society in Waukesha (HAWS), Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) and the Elmbrook Humane Society. Each organization will feature their own Angels for Animals holiday tree with ornaments crafted by shelter volunteers.
