What Would Teddy Do?
August has not been a good month for President Barack Obama or the Democrats in Congress. Especially trying to gain momentum for their failing health reform bill HR 3200. Hopefully September will continue in that direction.
The Democrats have been trying everything. Demonizing the insurance companies, demonizing the constituents, demonizing the blue dogs, demonizing the demons. Yet they can't seem to get a foothold to reverse their declining poll numbers.
Before the Democrats begin acting like a bunch of atheists trying to guilt Bible lessons on the rest of America, they are changing strategies again. They are going to ride on the coattails of the Ted Kennedy funeral. While it's a timely publicity stunt, it begins to show the desperation of this health care bill. Ted Kennedy would've voted for the health care reform. That's no secret or revelation. But now, the Democrats are expecting the other 99 senators to rollover and take one for Ted Kennedy. What would Teddy do?
The Democrats have not recognize that the citizenry of this country is beginning to wake up and realize that no one in Congress has read this bill. Why should they go along with it when nobody can give straight, consistent answers on what is actually being reformed? What would Jesus do?
The citizens of the country have finally had enough. After six or seven months of forcing through huge bills (1000+ pages) with a huge cost(in the trillions of dollars) creating deficits that are four times what they were during the George Bush presidency. And the Obama administration would want us to believe that George Bush was the worst president we have had in our time. Or at least up to this one. What would the founding fathers do?
Obama does not have his own health care plan. He is left health care reform completely up to Congress. The Democrats want a public option. The moderates do not. The Republicans want to scrap the bill and start over. Obama just wants to pass something so that he can claim victory that he reformed health care in his first year of his presidency. If this passes, we will begin collecting taxes for this immediately yet defer the actual implementation of covering everyone that Americans want covered for two more years. What would Obama do?
The place to start with true health care reform is to allow interstate competition. Also needed is tort reform. Obama thinks that the doctors are just out to scam all of their patients. Obama thinks that the government should step in to 'keep everyone honest'. That says a lot about what he thinks of the American people. Obama must think that everyone in America is the lumpen proletariat . We are just so apathetic that we will let the administration pull us into socialism and communism and we will ask for more. Well, America is finally waking up. They're mad as hell and they're not going to take it anymore. What would Harry Truman do?
